Welcome from the Chair of Governors

On behalf of the school, I am delighted to welcome you and your family to our school community at St Joan of Arc.

Your child is about to embark on what we hope will be an enjoyable and ultimately enriching period of their lives with us, and our aim at St Joan’s is to provide them with nothing less than the best possible Catholic education.

We want to enable our students to develop into confident young people ready to meet the challenges and opportunities of life and adulthood. Our teachers and school staff are dedicated to ensuring a high standard of academic and pastoral provision and care. It can sometimes be a difficult and complex world for young people to navigate through, we hope that we can play a significant part in them succeeding through this stage of their life and prepare them for the next stage, whatever that may be.

Our school began its life in 1904 with just five pupils and over time we have grown in response to need and parental demand to accommodate over 1200 children today. Our site continues to grow and develop to meet the needs of our students. The school has seen many developments in recent years, not least the installation of a 3G multi-sports field. We are currently adding a new Science block and hall to our site which will further enhance the facilities we have.

We thank you for choosing our school and trusting us with the privilege of educating your child. The Headteacher, Mrs Bernadette O’Hanlon, the staff and the Governors look forward to meeting with you and we aim to deliver the best outcome, that we possibly can, during your child’s time at the school.
